Four Basic Operations in Mathematics: Multiplication and Division

This is a continuation of the previous lesson. In our previous lesson, we looked at  two (addition and subtraction) out of the four basic operations in Mathematics; therefore, in this lesson, the other two (multiplication and division) are discussed. If you missed the previous lesson, you can get it HERE.

Four Basic Operations in Mathematics: Multiplication and Division

Before we start this tutorial, I want you to go back to your multiplication table if you have forgotten it. For now, you can recite from tables 1 to 10. One unique thing about multiplication is that it makes calculation very much easy. Instead of calculating ₦20 + ₦20 + ₦20 + ₦20 + ₦20 = ₦100 (like we illustrated in our previous lesson under addition), you just count the number of ₦20 and multiply the number by the ₦20. Since the number of ₦20 is 5, we will have: ₦20 × 5 = ₦100. It’s simple, right? Well, you will understand it better as we solve more examples.
